After the failed experiment, Crash escapes and resolves to save his captured girlfriend and fellow bandicoot, Tawna. The game was emulated on the PlayStation Network on December 4th 2006, allowing it to be played on the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. The game has sold at least 6.82 million copies globally since its original release. Two additional levels were added as post-launch downloadable content, and the N. Sane Trilogy was eventually ported to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows on June 29, 2018 with assistance from Skylanders developer Toys for Bob. Originally, this game was planned to be released on the Game Boy Color.

Cortex’s bodyguard Pinstripe Potoroo came next, opening fire in his office in the Cortex Power refinery with his tommy gun. After Crash defeated him, Pinstripe accidentally fired into Cortex Power’s generator, shutting down power production for Cortex’s lair. Doctor Nitrus Brio is the penultimate boss, fought in his chemistry room. He attempted to fight Crash off with his chemical solutions at first, but has to resort to downing the brew himself, warping his body into the Brio Monster. After Crash defeats Brio, a bunsen burner from Brio’s chemistry table is knocked over, setting the castle alight. Crash flees through the lab and makes it to The Great Hall, reaching the end of his quest.

How Much Time Ya Got?

When the Evolvo-Ray is destroyed, Uka Uka claims that he will have the last laugh, as Nina is about to launch the Doominator, threatening the existence of Wumpa Island. Furious, he transforms into an ice titan in order to fight both of them. When he is defeated, Uka Uka attempts to fly away, but Aku Aku stops him and tells him about the Evil Twins’ plot to destroy Earth. Some time after the events of Wrath of Cortex, a frozen Cortex and Uka Uka wash up on the shore somewhere on the Wumpa Islands. Though Cortex soon thaws and sets up a base on an iceberg, Uka Uka spends three more years trapped in ice in the nearby mountains. Long before the events of the series, Uka Uka was a powerful and evil shaman who aspired to rule the world, but was opposed by his older brother, Aku Aku.

While playing the game during development, Rubin realized that there were many empty areas in the game due to the PlayStation’s inability to process numerous on-screen enemy characters at the same time. Rubin soon came up with the idea of a box and putting various symbols on the sides to create puzzles. Breaking these boxes would serve to fill in the boring parts of the levels and give the player additional puzzles. The first “crate” was placed in the game in January 1996, and would become the primary gameplay element of the series. Willy the Wombat’s destruction of the crates would eventually lead him to be renamed “Crash Bandicoot”.

Aku Aku tells them of how the Time Twister was unable to sustain itself and how fortunate they were to escape they were caught in the explosion. After a cutscene with Cortex, N. Tropy and Uka Uka starts, Aku Aku states that he has no idea what happened to their enemies, but believes that they will not be seeing them again for a long time. Later, he joins Crash as they confront Uka Uka and Cortex in a final battle. While Crash deals with Cortex, Aku Aku is locked in a fierce battle with Uka Uka; the two of them soon become an obstacle in and of themselves. Like with Uka Uka’s attacks, Aku Aku could hurt Crash by accident if he’s too close, and he can’t protect him because he’s busy fighting against his brother. There, he finds and frees Aku Aku from a crate, who provides his magical services throughout the game, scattering Aku Aku crates all across the three islands.

The story follows Crash as he aims to prevent Brio and Cortex’s plans for world domination, and rescue his girlfriend Tawna, a female bandicoot also evolved by Cortex and Brio. Crate Crusher 9000 is one of the toughest skin to unlock on this list, as it requires players to obtain read my article eleven gems in Toxic Tunnels. I played the original Crash games on PS1 and completed all of them fully and it felt like an amazing accomplishment at the time. Fully completing this game is an absolute nightmare but this said I look forward to jumping back in on PS5.
